A Summer Engagement Party

August 22, 2011

Posted by Rachel

Somehow, this weekend went by in a flash.

I always feel that way after a busy weekend. This weekend was super busy.

I feel tired today. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.

It started Friday evening with a gathering at our aunt’s house. There was lots of little kid cuteness, delicious barbecue, lots of girl talk and serious video game playing (mostly for the guys).

The weekend continued with my cousin Veronica’s engagement party on Saturday. It was hosted at my parents’ house and between Veronica and my mom, they thought of every single detail. I love parties!

The party was held outdoors near the pool. They set up a huge tent for tables and food.

The tables were adorned with burgundy tablecloths and flower arrangements put together by my mom and Veronica. Aren’t they beautiful?

Out front, Veronica set up cute boards containing photos of her & Anthony through the years along with a save-the-date message for the wedding.

Kimberly and Veronica made a truly fantastic sangria as the signature drink of the day. I’ve honestly never had a homemade sangria this good before!

isn’t it pretty?

The day started with chips, pizza dip and my mom’s homemade bean dip on every table. We also snacked on spinach dip and Shaun’s buffalo chicken dip.

feed me.

For dinner, we ate penne alla vodka (made by the bride’s mom), pasta al forno, chicken tenders, sandwiches and fried rice. Of course, I couldn’t wait to get to dessert time.

The groom’s grandmother made this amazing cake. Have you ever seen anything like this in real life?! It was so beautiful.

Kimberly and I made up chocolate dipped fruit pops with marshmallow sauce for the occasion. This is one of my favorite desserts because they are fun to eat and truly delicious. We stuck them in styrofoam covered with Love wrapping paper for a pretty display.

For the party favors, Veronica, Mom, Kimberly and some of V’s friends worked super hard to make these adorable packaged cake pops. Every guest received a white chocolate dipped red velvet pop along with a chocolate dipped brownie popped, tied together with a sweet ribbon.

Here’s a sweet shot of myself, Shaun, Kimberly and Nick with the happy couple.

Congratulations Veronica & Anthony!

Questions of the day:

What a nice engagement party; everyone really went all out for the couple. So sweet. Can’t believe the grandmother made that cake. She’s got skills!
