Celebrating the Last of Summer

September 20, 2011

Post by Kimberly

While I am loving the crisp fall weather we have had in New York the last week, I am still a bit unhappy that my summer seemed so short and fleeting!  Being in school full time through the end of July really put a damper on my beach days and made summer feel SO short.  Luckily I was able to extend it one more weekend past Labor Day with a trip to the beach.  My boyfriend’s sister and bro-in-law very graciously invited us to take advantage of their beautiful home in Lewes, DE last weekend.

While the drive was a bit long (almost 4 hours), it was well worth the trip!

red wine + sunset = happy camper

The house was absolutely beautiful – some highlights include a beautiful roof deck, bay access through the backyard, countless decks, a hot tub and a kitchen that would make any entertainer drool. We got our fill of seafood for the summer and then some…

And visited Lewes’ famous farmer’s market…

Biked to the beach..

And enjoyed lots ice cream.

While Rachel and Shaun joined Nick and I for two nights, we hung around for an extra night and had the most delicious meal in downtown Lewes at Agave.  This places was out of this world yummy.  While sometimes I find mexican food to be standard, this was the exception.  We both agreed that our meals were delicious, tasty and fresh.  If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend stopping in!

Although I am welcoming the cooler weather, its weekends like this one, filled with good food, beach time and family that makes me oh-so-excited for next summer….

These photos are lovely – it’s hard to say goodbye to summer, but fall is amazing, too!
