My First Birchbox
Post by Rachel
Hi friends! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend! Shaun and I spent the weekend doing the Jersey circuit and I’m slightly spent today.
Ok so immediately after Kimberly posted about the Birchbox, I signed up to join in the fun. Kim had told me about this many times, but somehow I never got around to registering. For $10 per month, Birchbox sends you a small box of beauty samples via mail monthly. I finally took the plunge and last week, my first box of goodies arrived! I thought it would be fun to do a little roundup of my goods for you 🙂
In the box, I received the following samples:
Alex & Isabelle Classic Hair Ties. I’m slightly confused by how these work. I love the idea, but I haven’t figured out how to get these to actually hold my crazy thick hair for more than a few minutes.
Jouer Lip Enhancer. I am so weird about lip balms. I don’t like anything sticky or anything with a remote taste to it. I usually use Aquaphor and put a little lipstick on top of that. But. I love this product! I will likely be buying a full size version (even though it clocks in at an un-wallet friendly $14).
J.R. Watkins Foot Repair Salve. I rarely take the time to salve my tootsies, but now that I have this, I’m determined to give it a try. Plus it has a sweet peppermint scent which just reminds me of Christmas.
kate spade new york Twirl Perfume. It’s light and sweet and I like it a lot. But I kind of like it more for spring or summer. Until then, I’ll be adding this into the rotation along with Chanel Mademoiselle and Narcisco Rodriguez For Her.
Zoya Nail Polish in Noel. A shimmery blue that is perfect for the holiday season. I’ll be ringing it in this week!
Oh and the sweet round font paper is actually paper coasters from Two Paper Dolls. Cute, right?
Overall, I love this concept for a few reasons:
1. I’m not really into buying/trying new products. I honestly just forget about them, so unless it’s Christmas and Santa puts moisturizer in my stocking, I rarely head out to buy fun things like this. Getting samples means that I get exposure to lots of new things!
2. It’s extremely exciting to get a mystery box of goodies in the mail! I mean, I hardly even get good mail anymore, let alone a package of fun things. I can’t wait to look forward to this every month.
3. I’m adding to my arsenal of products. Even as small samples, I know that many of these goodies will last a while…especially the nail polish and perfume.
So there you have it. My Birchbox roundup!
What do you think? Would you sign up for something like this?
